Abi + Neil | Hearth House Venue | Colorado Springs Wedding | Colorado Springs Wedding Photographer
I've known Abi since she was in middle school — we went to the same school and her older brother, Nathan, is one of Michael's closest friends. Throughout our many years of knowing Nathan, I've always loved bumping into his family — they're some of the kindest people you'll meet. I was so excited to hear that Abi was dating one of Michael's college friends, Neil, the most down to earth, Jesus loving, redheaded man west of the Mississippi. In my short interactions with Abi over the years, I've always noticed her sweet-meets-sassy demeanor and her ability to ask great questions and show interest in the lives of those around her. I couldn't think of two people better suited for one another. When Abi asked me to photograph their wedding, I was over the moon. Not only would this be my first solo wedding, but it would be for someone I've known for years and years. Talk about lucky!
Abi and Neil's wedding day was relaxed and intentional. Nobody was stressed and everyone seemed so in tune to the true purpose behind the day. There were moments of pouring rain and continual looming clouds throughout the day, but no one broke a sweat about it (especially me because, hello, perfect lighting!). Abi and Neil just wanted to get married and start their journey together. And that's what it's all about!
They got married at a new venue called Hearth House Venue, smack dab in the middle of Downtown Monument, Colorado, just down the road from Abi's family's house. New construction with lots of character — high ceilings, a massive stone fireplace, and thoughtful little details throughout — the venue was perfect! Abi's cousin-in-law, Mary, is the florist behind Fox + Flower and created the most beautiful bouquets, garlands and floral loops. Every element of the day included some sort of personal touch, which made it feel just like a big, happy family reunion.
The whole day I just kept thinking that I was SO lucky to be there. Watching Abi's bridesmaids pray over her, witnessing her dad choke up when he saw her for the first time, photographing Abi and Neil's first moments together after they tied the knot. It was such a privilege to be part of such special and intimate moments in their lives and get to capture them for generations to come. WOW. So blessed that they trusted me with their day! And so excited to watch their marriage and ministry flourish and to hear about all of the lives they'll impact and touch through their love and commitment to one another.
